I am a single, divorced, heterosexual. Emotionally available, open, honest and ethical and open to any level of involvement. As to relationships, I am ethically non-monogamous, somewhere between swinger and poly - essentially open and fluid . I'm interested in real, emotionally committed, supportive relationships - as well as casual relationships. I tend to stay friends - often really close friends - with ex-lovers. I am comfortable with all gender orientations in my friends and partners. I enjoy kinky activities; I've had some fun with it and am open to trying more - it's interesting stuff, and I find it all the more compelling as I explore deeper but I do not identify myself by any such labels or groups.
I used to be a professional musician (classical music and jazz) and worked as a pianist, composer and college/conservatory teacher, but switched to real estate and finance when I got married. I am getting involved with the music world again; recently took on some piano and guitar improvisation students; and am practicing and writing seriously again. One of these days I will start performing in public again.
I get along best with people of high intelligence, talent and education, most especially people with a passionate quest in their lives.
I am very easy to get along with, fun, funny, calm, non-controlling, non-judgmental, and have high standards in communication and ethics for my best friends.
I love to do unusual or exciting things - out of the way, unknown great restaurants and music venues, concerts, etc. I want to go to race car driving school; learn to fly a plane and helicopter; play as many instruments as I can; trek Nepal in the Himalayan foothills; memorize all Chopin Etudes, Beethoven Sonatas and Bach Preludes and Fugues; become fluent in the languages I've studied and read the Talmud in the original.
Some things I want to do again: diving in the Caribbean and petting a big foot shark; ski western powder; spend an entire week in the Louvre and Musee du Jeu de Paume; hike the Plain of the Seven Glaciers and lunch in the Japanese Tea House at the top; take the incredibly choppy boat ride from Cancun to Isla de Mujeres; read The Brothers Karamazov; fall in love; study acupuncture.
I enjoy skiing, tennis, museums, NYC architecture, science, healing, medicine and law. I am a serious student of Kung Fu (Tai Chi) & allied arts and lift some weights.
My masters degree is in music composition; I dropped out of the PhD program at NYU, and was a professional musician and college & conservatory teacher before switching careers. I studied pre-med/chem and music as an undergrad at Stony Brook, was a Intel Semifinalist in biophysics at Stuy, and an NSF Research grantee at Carnegie Mellon. I have had the incredible luck and honor to study with some of the greatest and most important musicians alive, both here and in Europe.
I would like achieve enlightenment in this lifetime. One of my spiritual advisers told me I just missed it last time around. That makes me laugh because I really have no idea if that's true but it's flattering!
But my intuition is increasing; I sometimes know things about people and what to do when without a reasonable explanation. I am consciously trusting these intuitions more and more and letting them guide me in my life. I believe that reincarnation and karma are more likely than not; they seem to be a good explanation of things that are otherwise inexplicable.
What I like most about what I have done with my life is that I have given my kids a deep understanding of how to enjoy and expand their lives, accomplishments and place in the world - including improving the world and how to think truly critically. That means not dismissing nor accepting without examination anything that conventional wisdom says must be. I like to help heal people and have studied shiatsu massage and other healing modalities.
I get excited by ideas, particularly music, science and the arts but I've not even heard of many TV shows most people are watching and the bands they are listening to. Then again, most folks don't know much of the music I listen to.
